Ted Cox is an artist, author, and musician based in Tucson, Arizona.
Hi there,
Thank you for taking an interest in my work.
First, I'm the proud father of two, brilliant and handsome young men. Just their presence is enough to inspire me. They never cease to spark new energy into my life with their evolving and ever-engaging personalities, expressed thoughts, interests, actions, and beings.
During the day, I'm a CPA, licensed in my home state of Arizona. I attended Canyon del Oro High School, and I earned my Bachelors in Accounting and Masters in Business at what is now the University of Arizona Global Campus after attending Pima Community College.
In high school, I played trombone in jazz and concert bands and joined U of A Jazzwerx and the Tucson Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. I earned the Drum Major position for the CDO Marching Band during my junior and senior years. I also bought a guitar, which sustained my musical interest through college, where I focused on other endeavors like prose, poetry and photography. Since, I started writing music, took up painting, tried my hand at tile mosaic, and now, I'm learning the piano.
Creativity is a force that comes and goes. It’s purposeful and deliberate. I don't have a preferred medium through which to express this energy, so I’m happy to entertain a new method or fall back to an old favorite. I'm learning to trust what feels right while balancing the discomfort of gaining a foreign skillset.
The art I create is for me. If it moves you, that’s incredible, but I can only know myself in that way, and so my creations are aimed at vital parts within. I trust our shared humanity will allow at least some of that power to transfer to you. If not, I'd direct you to the gazillion other people who tried and are trying and will try to do the same. Down below are a few of those who do so for me.
Peace be with you.
Ted
